Pada hari Sabtu 25 Jun 2011, program mentoring & coaching SBT antara MOZAC dan Sek. Men. Tahfiz Al Quran, Cenderah serta Sek. Men. Nyalas, Jasin. Program ini melibatkan pelajar - pelajar tingkatan 3 & 5 ketiga - tiga buah sekolah. Program yang dijayakan oleh Panitia Matematik MOZAC ini dijalankan di Dewan Sultan Muzaffar Syah (Tingkatan 5) dan juga di Dewan Makan (Tingkatan 3).Program ini dilaksanakan sebagai memenuhi tuntutan SBT dalam perkongsian pengalaman diantara warga KPM. Di samping itu, program ini dapat menggalakkan pelajar berinteraksi menggunakan kemahiran masing- masing dalam bidang Matematik. Berdasarkan pengalaman lepas, di dapati program ini boleh meningkatkan kecemerlangan dalam subjek Matematik untuk sekolah - sekolah yang terlibat.

Dengan kepercayaan pada prasa : (95% we learn if we teach someone ) Panitia telah melantik 26 Mentor Add Maths.Mentor-mentor ini telah mengajar Add Maths menggunakan modul yang disediakan oleh Panitia .Pn Normarzita, Miss Ho dan Pn Saripah telah menghadirkan diri untuk membantu Mentor- Mentor tersebut .Pelajar-Pelajar telah dibahagi kepada 26 kumpulan mengikut jumlah mentor yang ada.

Permutations and combinations

When we talk of permutations and combinations in everyday talk we often use the two terms interchangeably. In mathematics, however, the two each have very specific meanings, and this distinction often causes problems.
In brief, the permutation of a number of objects is the number of different ways they can be ordered; i.e. which is first, second, third, etc. If you wish to choose some objects from a larger number of objects, the way you position the chosen objects is also important. With combinations, on the other hand, one does not consider the order in which objects were chosen or placed, just which objects were chosen. We could summarise permutations and combinations (very simplistically) as

which may help you to remember which is which.

THE IMPORTANT DIFFERENCE
As mentioned above, there is an important difference between permutations and combinations. In this case, for permutations the order of events is important: order 1 is different from order 2. For combinations, however, it does not matter which picture was hung first. In this example there are two permutations (A, B ≠ B, A), but only one combination (A, B = B, A).
Another way that you may find useful to help you remember is to consider a combination lock. On combination locks you have to turn dials with numbers on so a particular number is given, e.g. '1, 2, 3, 4'. But they do not unlock when if the order is changed (e.g. 2, 1, 3, 4). In this case the order is important. So combination locks should not be called combination locks but 'permutation' locks.

In the same way that permutations have shorthand, combinations have similar shorthand. All we have to do is divide the number of permutations by the number of permutation in each set. So, the right-hand side of the following equation is the same as the equation for the number of permutations except for an additional r! term in the divisor (which corrects for the number of permutations of each set). Note, also, that the P (for permutation) is replaced by C (for combination).

If you have a scientific calculator you should see these labelled (on some calculators they are separate keys, on others they are second-function keys). In general, you enter the number of items to choose from (n) then the nCr or nPr button and then the number of items to choose (r).

Permutation - arrangement - example
Question 1 :   A family of 4 brothers and 3 sisters is to be arranged in a row for a photograph. In how many ways can they be seated if all the sisters are together?
Answer:    Let B₁,B₂,B₃,B₄ denote the brothers and S₁,S₂,S₃ denote the sisters. Since the sisters are to be seated together for a photograph, consider all the sisters as one unit or entity. Then B₁,B₂,B₃,B₄,S can be arranged to sit in 5! ways. The sisters can be arranged among themselves in 3! ways. Since the two events are independent, the total number of arrangements = 5!.3! = 720 ways.

Question 2:   In how many ways can a consonant and a vowel be chosen out of the letters in the word COURAGE?
Answer:    There are three consonants (C, R, G) and four vowels (A, E, O, U) in the word COURAGE.
With the consonants, we may choose any one of the 4 vowels. It can be done in 4 ways. There are three consonants.
\The total number of ways will be 4 x 3 = 12.

Question 3:   How many arrangements can be made out of the letters of the word DRAUGHT, the vowels never being separated?
Answer:    There are 7 letters in the word DRAUGHT, the two vowels are A and U. Since, the vowels are not to be separated, AU can be considered as one entity. Therefore, the number of letters will be 6 instead of 7. The permutations will be P(6,6) = 6! ways.
But the two vowels A and U can be arranged in two ways, i.e. AU and UA.
\The required number of arrangements = 2!.6! = 1440 ways.

Question 4:( Out of SPM Syllibus)   Find the number of arrangements that can be made out of the letters i) ASSASSINATION ii) GANESHPURI.
Answer:    i) The word ASSASSINATION consists of
A's = 3, S's = 4, I's = 2,
N's = 2, T's = 1, O's = 1
The total number of letters is 13 letters.

ii) The word GANESHPURI consists of 10 distinct letters.
The number of permutations is 10!.
Question 5 : ( out of SPM Syllibus) How many different arrangements can be made out of the letters in the expression a³b²c⁴, when written at full length?
Answer:    There are 3 + 2 + 4 = 9 letters.

Mozac telah menghantar 10 orang pelajar untuk menerima latihan dibawah pimpinan En Suhaimi Ramly. En Suhaimi Ramly is the head trainer of the malaysian national team to the International Mathematical Olympiad Competition. As a student, he represented the country in IMO 1999 ( Bucharest, Romania) IMO 2000 ( Taejon, Korea)and IMO 2001 ( Washington DC, USA). He is the first person to win an IMO Bronze Medal for Malaysia in 2000.

Selamat Tahun Baru 2010 . Dah lama cikgu tak post sebarang cerita. Ini cerita terbaru cikgu
Baru-baru ini cikgu dan 6 org cikgu lain telah pergi ke ATCM 2009 di Normal Universiti Beijing China dari 17 - 21 Disember . Cikgu berlepas ke sana pada 15 Disember so sempatlah melawat Beijing. Seramai 400 peserta dari 26 buah negara telah menyertai persidangan teknologi dalam pendidikan matematik. Banyak perkongsian pengalaman pendidikan matematik telah dikongsi bersama. Cikgu sempat membentang satu kertas dalam persidangan itu. Sesunggunya pengalaman tersebut sangat berharga dalam hidup cikgu terutama musim sejuk disana.

Many years ago, when I worked as a volunteer at Stanford Hospital, I got to know a little girl named Liza who was suffering from a rare and serious disease. Her only chance of recovery appeared to be a blood transfusion from her five-year-old brother, who had miraculously survived the same disease and had developed the antibodies needed to combat the illness. The doctor explained the situation to her little brother, and asked the boy if he would be willing to give his blood to his sister. I saw him hesitate for only a moment before taking a deep breath and saying,

‘Yes, I’ll do it if it will save Liza.’

“As the transfusion progressed, he lay in a bed next to his sister and smiled, as we all did, seeing the color returning to her cheeks. Then his face grew pale and his smile faded. He looked up at the doctor and asked with a trembling voice, ‘Will I start to die right away?’

“Being young, the boy had misunderstood the doctor; he thought he was going to have to give her all his blood.

“Yes, I’ve learned courage,” she added, “because I’ve had inspiring teachers.”

Bangkel 1 Additional Mathematics 2009

Bengkal telah diadakan pada 17 January 2009 . Tajuk yang telah dicakupi ialah linear laws . Module disampaikan dalam masa 3 jam. 30 minit adalah untuk topical test. Semua pelajar telah datang dan telah mengambil bahagian yang aktif. Keseluruhan program ini telah berjaya diadakan . Dari refleksi yang telah dibuat oleh semua pelajar didapati 90% pelajar mendapati program ini adalah baik diadakan dan mengharapkan akan dapat diadakan untuk tajuk yang lain. Daripada ujian topikal yang dijalankan 20.5% mandapat markah penuh. dan hanya 5% mendapat markah dibawah markah min.
Guru yang terlibat ialah En Lee Hong Chin, Pn Normarzitah Idris,Pn Hamidah Hassan dan Pn Saripah Ahmad. Panitia Matematik mengucapkan jutaan terimakasih kepada semua guru yang terlibat. Walaupun bangkel diadakan pada hari cuti cikgu tetap memberi komitmen yang tinggi.

Semalam cikgu dapat memo dari keepandshared untuk upgred storan kerana limitnya sudah sampai. Buat punya buat adalah bayaran yang dikenakan . Sebelum ni cikgu guna percuma aje untuk manage my blog . Cikgu belum fikir nak buat bayaran ke tidak kerana satu sen pun cikgu tak dapat untung dari blog ini. Dahlah masa habis, sebulan bayar stremyx adalah Rm... tak tahu my hubby yang bayar.

Susah Hati ...... SPM dah dekat

Hari ini cikgu rasa susah hati memandangkan masih terdapat pelajar yang leka dan tak sedar SPM dah dekat. Pagi -pagi dah nampak pelajar ting 5 menghadap lembaga displin . Apa lagi masalah yang kau orang buat . Cikgu rasa dah macam-macam usaha cikgu-cikgu lakukan..Harap tuhan bagi kekuatan ....... Dalam manage blog ini terasa juga ada ke pelajar -pelajar menggunakan bahan yang cikgu sediakan .Adakah kerja ini sia-sia sahaja . ..Entahlah hanya tuhan yang tahu.

Tadi Petang ( 21/10/2008) jam 4.30 - 5.40 cikgu bawa lima orang pelajar makan KFC . Cikgu belanja kerana kumpulan pelajar ini telah memenangi hadiah kumpulan terbaik . Puas hati tengok mereka makan memang licin. tak sia-sia bawa mereka makan.

Kepada kelas lima alpha peluang makan KFC terus dibuka. Harap tahun ini cikgu boleh belanja besar. Ingat Maths and Add Maths mesti 1A untuk semua pelajar dikelas itu. Walauapa pun terimakasih kerana kau orang nak tolong kelas-kelas lain dalam membuat persediaan SPM
